Christian Home Baptist Church was founded in October 1884 by a small group of devoted believers, including Spencer Lassiter, James Gray, and Eddie Jordan. Organized “Bush Harbor Style,” the church grew from humble beginnings into a strong community of faith.

Over the years, the church expanded its facilities and ministries under the leadership of seven pastors. Reverend Solomon E. Diggs became pastor in 1954 and faithfully served for 32 years. In 1988, Reverend Wendell M. Waller was called as pastor, expanding worship services to every Sunday and strengthening the church’s music, youth, senior, and community ministries.

In 1998, construction began on a new 8,000-square-foot facility, and the congregation entered its new church home on April 29, 1999. The mortgage was paid off in eight years and celebrated with a mortgage-burning ceremony in 2008.

Christian Home Baptist Church has continued to grow, expand its ministries, and reach important milestones while remaining committed to its theme, “Preparing People for Christian Service.” Through God’s goodness and grace, the church continues to be a strong and faithful community of believers.
